IRIS GOLD
Iris Gold welcomes you into her world of ’hippie hop’ – a colourful and infectious amalgamation of retro hip-hop, soul and power pop with a generous sprinkle of flower power. Having shared stage with some of the biggest acts in the world and worked with some of the most influential producers of today, Iris has clearly shown that the sky is the limit and that she is ready to take on the world. She is now presenting her new single “All I Really Know”
Iris shares her thoughts on the track, “When you have been dealing with adversity throughout your life, it will either kill you, or make you blossom into a positive person, and I decided very early on in life that I would always be positive, energetic, and a go-getter. “All I Really Know” is my Rocky Balboa/Apollo Creed track. It’s a song about picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and trying again, after failing, no matter how many attempts it takes.”
Originally from London and raised in Copenhagen, Iris has lived a nomadic life sorrounded by free thinkers growing up in hippy communes and squates, 60’s 70’s counterculture, elements that has made her the unique, charismatic artist she is today. Against this backdrop of West Coast melody, she has since continued to expand her musical horizons after becoming enamoured with hip-hop acts such as Pete Rock, Beastie Boys and De La Soul. She has masterfully managed to merge these influences in her own music, a skill illustrated by one Indie Shuffle writer who, when listening to Iris’s music was “not sure if I’m listening to laid-back West Coast sounds or future R&B from the studios of NYC.” Iris’ musical blend can best be described, according to The Guardian, as “deliciously summery and laid-back at a time when most pop seems to want to make you have a heart attack.”
For such a fresh artist, Iris Gold sure has an impressive resume. Few people can boast having shared stages with acts such as for Blur, Taylor Swift, Miguel, Phlake and Raury – not to mention Robbie Williams, whose tour, came to a mind-blowing climax in Abu Dhabi where Iris got to perform in front of 25,000 spectators. She has worked with prominent producers such as Jake Goslin (Ed Sheeran), Dimitri Tokovoi (Charli XCX, Placebo), MNEK (Beyoncé), Gisli Gislason (Phlake), Fred Ball (Rihanna, Madonna), Pantha (Wretch 32, Jakob Banks), The Confect (Tiggs Da Author, Big Narstie) and Rune Rask (Kendrick Lamar, Suspekt) to name a few. Additionally, her music has garnered a groundswell of radio support, being endorsed by leading tastemakers including Zane
